Olympus Vanox Microscope
These instructions are for taking a picture, saving the picture and illuminating a sample. Note that these instructions do not include illumination for the cameras. For using the cameras contact a MiRC technical staff member.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ILLUMINATING A SAMPLE
These instructions are for illuminating a sample on the microscope. Note that these instructions do not include illumination for the cameras. For using the cameras contact a MiRC technical staff member.
- Main Lamp Power
- Lamp Intensity Control
- Blue Filter
- Frontside/Backside Illumination Selector
- Lower Level Aperture Control
- Note: All instructions in this set reference the picture immediately above.
- First turn on the main power for the lamp (1).
- Make sure the lamp intensity control (2) is in the MAX position.
- If you want blue light push tab (3) in. If you want white, orange, or green light, pull tab (3) out.
- If you want to illuminate your sample from above, push tab (4) in. If you want to illuminate your sample from below, pull tab (4) out.
- If you are using illumination from below, wheel (5) controls the intensity of the light reaching your sample.

- Itensifier for Bright Field Mode
- Note: All instructions in this set reference the picture immediately above.
- If you want orange light pull tab (1) out. For white or green light push tab (1) in.
- If you want green light pull tab (2) out. If you want white light push tab (2) in.
- Initially open the aperture completely by turning wheel (3) all the way up. This can be fine tuned as needed. It will change the intensity of the light hitting your sample.
- Initially open the field completely by turning wheel (4) all the way up. This will increase the diameter of the circle of light hitting your sample.
- If you wish to have polarized light, pull tab (5) out.
- To see if the light is the brightest possible, pull out then press in tab (7). If the intensity of the light did not change then you are at the brightest level. If you wish to dim the light, press tab (7) all the way in then pull tab (6) all the way out then push it all the way back in. To reset it to the brightest level, pull out then push back in tab (7).
WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED: TURN THE MAIN POWER OFF (top picture in the instructions section, reference point 1)
