Opening ceremony on April 24, 2009 at 3 PM
Apr 15, 2009:
On April 24, 2009, the Marcus Nanotechnology Building Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will launch the grand opening of a unique facility that will house the only combined electronic and biological cleanrooms in existence. This ballroom style cleanroom adjacent to the biomedical research quadrangle on the campus of Georgia Tech will be a singular resource for nanoscale research and interdisciplinary modes of collaboration.
The Marcus Nanotechnology Building (MNB) will combine with the current Pettit Microelectronics Building (PMB) to complete the Nanotechnology Research Center (NRC) complex. Cleanroom, building, and business operations will be conducted by the current management and staff of the Microelectronics Research Center (MiRC). The business operations of the Marcus Building will follow the same guidelines now in place at the Pettit Building. For answers to any questions on how to benefit from our services please email Diana Palma, Assistant Director of Business Operations, at diana.palma@mirc.gatech.edu or call (404) 894-1541.
In preparation for this event a new website page has been created, http://www.nrc.gatech.edu/, which unifies the previous MiRC and cleanroom (Grover), as well as the Georgia Tech Nano websites. In addition, a nanotechnology blog, Room at the Bottom, has been created to chronicle activities, events, and information about the NRC and nanotechnology at Georgia Tech.
The latest calendar link (on the current website) shares nanotechnology related events that may be of interest to Center users and can be found at: http://www.mirc.gatech.edu/calendar/nrc_cal.php.
The NRC, supported by the NSF through the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN), is an open, hands-on user facility that is available for use by any researcher in academia, government, or industry. For more information, visit the Getting Started link on the NRC website.
